Travel Filmmaking Course
Learn to plan, shoot and edit honest travel stories — from your first shot to a finished film.
From “I have a camera” to “I made a film”
This course is for travellers, new creators and film students who want to tell real stories from the places they visit. It’s built on what I learned at film school and, more importantly, on what the road has taught me since.
No expensive gear needed. You’ll learn the craft with whatever you already have — phone or camera — and finish with a short travel film of your own.
What you’ll learn
Finding the story
Research, choosing a subject and planning a shoot that leaves room for surprises.
Shooting on the move
Composition, light, movement and the wide-medium-close habit that makes editing easy.
Sound that holds people
Natural sound, interviews and microphone basics for outdoor locations.
Filming people with respect
Asking permission, building trust and letting people tell their own story.
Editing the story
Logging, the paper edit, rough cut, pacing and choosing music that supports the story.
Colour, titles & thumbnails
A simple, consistent look and thumbnails that get your film watched.
Publishing & growing
YouTube basics, titles and descriptions, and turning one trip into many pieces of content.
Who it’s for
When does the next batch start?
Dates are announced to the newsletter first. Register your interest and you’ll hear as soon as the next batch is confirmed.
Do I need professional equipment?
No. A phone or any camera is enough to start. We’ll talk about what to upgrade first — and what you don’t need at all.
Is it online or in person?
The plan is to offer both: online lessons plus in-person field days in the Kathmandu Valley. Tell me which you prefer when you register.
