About Hanok Khati
Filmmaker, editor and photographer from Nepal, telling travel stories that slow down long enough to listen.
Stories from the road, told by the people who live there
I’m a travel content creator and documentary filmmaker from Nepal. I shoot, edit and design most of what you see here and on my YouTube channel myself, so every story passes through my hands from the first frame to the final cut.
I started with a camera and a habit of asking too many questions. My favourite footage rarely comes from famous viewpoints. It comes from kitchens, tea shops, festival courtyards and long walks with people who had no reason to talk to me, but did anyway.
That is still the part of travel I care about most: the people, the food, the small rituals of an ordinary day. The mountains are beautiful. The people who live beneath them are the story.
What I believe in
People first
The people in my films see their story before anyone else does. Their words lead; mine only connect them.
Slow travel
Three days in one village beats one day in three cities. Time is what turns a visit into a story.
Honest footage
No staged moments, no fake reactions. If a day was hard, you’ll see that too — it’s part of the journey.
Give back
Paying hosts fairly, buying local and sharing footage with the communities who welcomed me.
“The mountains are beautiful. The people who live beneath them are the story.”
Hanok KhatiHow a story comes together
Listen
Every trip starts with conversations — with locals, guides and elders — long before the camera comes out.
Live it
Stay with families, eat what they eat, walk the same trails. The camera follows the experience, not the other way round.
Shape it
Hours of footage become one clear story in the edit, with natural sound and music that supports it.
Share it
The film goes on YouTube; the details that didn’t fit go here as blogs, tips and photo essays.
