Learning to Film in the Field

What filmmaking school taught me, and what only the trail could teach.

Film school gave me the language: shot sizes, story structure, sound, colour. The road gave me everything else. Out in the field there is no second take of a sunrise, no lighting crew and no studio quiet. You learn to read light quickly, to listen before you press record and to keep a story in your head while your legs are tired.

Every shoot is a lesson.
Every shoot is a lesson.

Every trip teaches something new, and I share those lessons here and in the Making-Of posts for anyone starting their own journey with a camera.
