Watch on YouTubeIf you trek in Nepal, you will cross a lot of suspension bridges. Some are short hops over streams; others stretch high across deep gorges and sway with every step. For the villages they connect, they are lifelines — the difference between a two-hour walk and a two-day detour.
Bridge rules every trekker should know
- Animals have priority. If a mule or yak train is crossing, wait.
- Stand on the uphill side of the trail when animals pass, never the edge.
- Keep a steady pace and look ahead, not down, if heights bother you.
