Many people who message me are starting with just a phone — and that’s perfect. Modern phones are capable cameras. These settings will make your footage look far more professional.
- Lock exposure and focus (tap and hold) so brightness doesn’t jump around.
- Pick one frame rate for the whole trip — 25 or 30 fps for normal footage, higher only for slow motion.
- Shoot in 4K if storage allows; it gives you room to crop.
- Turn off beauty filters and heavy auto-enhancements.
- Clean the lens before every shot — it sounds obvious, but it’s the most common problem.
- Use an external mic for talking to camera or interviews.
